When to call

Signs you need plumbing repairs

If any of these sound familiar, it is worth getting looked at before it becomes a bigger job.

A faucet or shower valve that drips after it is fully closed

A toilet that runs between flushes, or rocks when you sit on it

A garbage disposal that hums without turning, or leaks from underneath

Slow drains in more than one fixture at the same time

Water staining on the ceiling or wall below a bathroom

A sudden drop in pressure at one fixture but not the others

How the work goes

What the job actually involves

So you know what you are paying for, and what questions are worth asking any plumber who quotes it.

Find out what actually failed

Fixtures share supply lines, shutoffs, and drains, so the fixture that shows the symptom is not always the part that failed. The repair starts by isolating which component is at fault instead of replacing the visible one and hoping.

Repair or replace, whichever is right

A cartridge, a wax ring, or a supply line is a repair. A fixture that has been rebuilt repeatedly, or one whose parts are no longer made, is usually cheaper to replace than to keep patching.

Test it under real conditions

A joint that holds at rest can still weep under pressure or under thermal movement. Work is checked hot and cold, and at full flow, before the job is called finished.

Common Questions

Plumbing repair questions

Repairs and replacements for the fixtures you use every day.

Is it worth repairing a fixture or should I replace it?

A cartridge, a wax ring, or a supply line is a straightforward repair. A fixture that has been rebuilt more than once, or one whose replacement parts are no longer made, usually costs less to replace than to keep patching. We will tell you which situation you are in before any work starts.

Why is my toilet running between flushes?

Most often a flapper that no longer seals, a fill valve that does not shut off, or a float set too high. It is a small repair, but a running toilet can waste a large volume of water continuously, so it shows up on the bill before it shows up anywhere else.

My water pressure dropped at one faucet only. Why?

Pressure lost at a single fixture usually means a blocked aerator, a failing cartridge, or a partly closed angle stop, all local to that fixture. Pressure lost across the whole house points at the supply system instead, which is a different problem and worth investigating properly. See our whole house repipe page.

Do you repair garbage disposals?

Yes. From kitchen sinks to toilets, garbage disposals to shower valves, we specialize in plumbing repairs and replacements. A disposal that hums without turning is usually jammed, while one leaking from the body itself has generally reached the end of its life.

Surius Plumbing replaced old cement broken piping from my house to the main city sewer. They worked professionally and to code. Their pricing was fair and it was money well spent; their work is guaranteed-critical with plumbing projects. I highly recommend them- their finish grading was excellent also.

Reached out to Sirius plumbing twice now and both times were just such an easy, comfortable experience. They came out the same day and were able to not only diagnose but FIX the issue with my water heater. These guys are great, smooth and would highly recommend to give them a call.

I’ve been using Sirius Plumbing since before they were even called Sirius Plumbing, and while it may sound hard to believe, every single experience I’ve had with them has been exceptional in every way. My home is over 70 years old and originally had iron plumbing, so the work required has never been simple. The first time I hired them was to install plumbing for a new laundry room addition. Their work passed inspection on the very first attempt—which, I can’t say, was true for the rest of the construction! The second time, I called them to address leaks and poor drainage from the primary bathtub.

Please read! Over the past several months I had issues with my Navien tankless water heater. Several plumbers have come and gone without resolve. Navien asks you use one of their certified companies to diagnose. Alfonso's team came out and started the process.
