When to call

Signs you need gas line installation

If any of these sound familiar, it is worth getting looked at before it becomes a bigger job.

Adding a gas range, dryer, tankless water heater, pool heater, or outdoor grill

A smell of gas, which means leave the building first and call from outside

A burner flame that is yellow or lifting instead of steady and blue

How the work goes

What the job actually involves

So you know what you are paying for, and what questions are worth asking any plumber who quotes it.

Size the line for the whole load

A gas line is sized for every appliance it feeds at once, not just the new one. Adding a tankless heater or a range to a line that was never sized for it starves everything on that run.

Route it to code

Material, support, protection where the line passes through framing, and where it may and may not run are all governed by code. Gas work is the part of the trade with the least room for improvisation.

Pressure test and prove it

A new or altered line is pressure tested and held before any appliance is connected. Every connection is checked again once the gas is on.

I think I smell gas. What should I do?

Leave the building first. Do not switch lights or appliances on or off, and do not use a phone inside. Once you are outside, call your gas utility, and call us at (832) 767-8161. This is the one plumbing situation where nothing should be investigated before everyone is out.

Can you run a gas line for a new range, dryer, or grill?

Yes. Our certified technicians safely install and repair gas lines for appliances and heating systems, ensuring everything runs efficiently and securely. That includes ranges, dryers, tankless water heaters, pool heaters, and outdoor kitchens.

Can I just tee off an existing gas line for a new appliance?

Not reliably. A gas line is sized for the total demand of every appliance it feeds at once. Adding a high demand appliance such as a tankless water heater to a line that was never sized for it starves everything on that run, and undersized gas piping shows up as appliances that underperform or will not stay lit.

How do you confirm a gas line is safe?

A new or altered line is pressure tested and held before any appliance is connected, and every connection is checked again once the gas is turned on.
